Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus put in a strong performance for West Ham United, despite the team falling 2-0 away to Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash on Thursday night.
Kudus impressed throughout the game, earning a 7.2 rating from SofaScore before being substituted for Ben Johnson in the 87th minute.
West Ham faced a stern challenge against the Bundesliga outfit. Despite a goalless first half, the home side struck twice in the closing stages. Jonas Hofmann broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute, followed by a goal from Victor Boniface in stoppage time, securing a vital lead for Leverkusen.
Dutch-born Ghanaian Jeremie Frimpong also featured for Bayer Leverkusen, adding another layer to the encounter.
The Hammers will be hoping to overturn the deficit in the second leg, which will be played at London Stadium on April 18. However, their focus will first shift to the Premier League, where they face Fulham on April 14.
Despite the disappointing result, Kudus’ performance continues his impressive run of form for West Ham. He has already bagged 12 goals and 5 assists in just 38 appearances across all competitions this season, solidifying his position as a key player for the club.
