Liverpool eye Matheus Nunes as midfield reinforcement for next season

Liverpool have shown interest in Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes according to Sky Italy journalist Fabrizio Romano as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his midfield for next season.

Nunes remains an alternative for Klopp’s midfield with Dortmund youngster Bellingham as Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain eye a move away from Merseyside this summer.

Nunes made the switch from Sporting CP to Wolves last August and progress is being made to bring the 24 year old to Anfield for the start of next season.

The deal would cost the reds about 44 million Euros according to Sam Wallace of the Telegraph with Wolves and Liverpool negotiating the deal.

Wolves Manager Julien Lopetegui has denied any information that suggests he knows a negotiation is taking place between Wolves and Liverpool for Nunes.

“I don’t know anything about Matheus,” he told reporters ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Aston Villa.

“He’s our player, he’s happy here and wants to show his work for us. He is starting to show it but he has to develop for us.”

Liverpool look to complete the deal after previous successful negotiation with Wolves for Diego Jota two seasons ago.
