Luis Suarez appeared to attempt to bite Colombia’s Miguel Borja on the neck following Uruguay’s 1-0 defeat in the Copa America semifinals.
The incident reportedly stemmed from Suarez’s displeasure with Borja’s excessive celebrations after the match. Suarez confronted Borja in what seemed to be an attempt to settle things privately.
After the game, Suarez commented on the situation, stating, “There are always squabbles, jokes or whatever, but what is annoying is the way they [Colombia] celebrated.
” This behavior is not entirely surprising given Suarez’s history of similar antics, notably his infamous bite on Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup.
