Asante Kotoko attacker Frank Etouga Mbella has finally surpassed Eric Bekoe’s 17goals in a calendar year record for the porcupine warriors.
The Cameroonian forward scored at the Red Bull arena on Saturday as Asante Kotoko returned to their winning ways with a 1-0 victory over WAFA after two consecutive defeats.
Mbella now have 18 league goals after matchday 27 of the Ghana premier league surpassing Eric Bekoe’s 17goals in the 2007/2008 season and Alex Asamoah’s 16goals in the 2008/2009 season.
The young Cameroonian who is having a stellar career at Kotoko is tipped to break the record of the late Opoku Afriyie who scored 21goals in the 1981 season.
Asante Kotoko takes on Aduana Stars next and the Cameroonian is likely to replicate his stellar performance at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.
