Manchester United are on the verge of securing a deal for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, according to a source who spoke to ESPN.
The club has successfully negotiated terms with Zirkzee’s representatives, overcoming a significant hurdle in the process. With this obstacle cleared, Manchester United will now focus on finalizing an agreement with Bologna.
While Zirkzee has a release clause of £34 million ($43.5m) in his contract, valid until August, United may attempt to negotiate a different arrangement to secure the player.
The 23-year-old Zirkzee, who has also attracted interest from AC Milan, is currently with the Netherlands squad preparing for their Euro 2024 semifinal clash against England in Dortmund on Wednesday. Zirkzee has become Manchester United’s top striker target after considering options like Lille’s Jonathan David and Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
