Martin Antwi inspired his team Asante Kotoko to victory through his response to Hafiz Konkoni’s 20th minute goal.
It Asante Kotoko’s executive chairman Dr. Kwame Kyei’s words got to the skin of Asante Kotoko players as they fought to survive another shocking defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium in their match day 12.
Asante Kotoko players were in top form on the night but couldn’t find back of the net in the first 20 minutes of the game which ended in them being punished by visitors Bechem United in the 20th minute of the game through Hafiz Konkoni.
Asante Kotoko weren’t dampened by the goal as the kept searching for a goal which nearly gifted them a penalty in the 31st minute but was denied by the referee. Asante Kotoko finally got the equalizer in the 34th minute through a half volley from Martin Antwi through a cross that was connected to him by Imoro Ibrahim.
Asante Kotoko knowing 1-1 wouldn’t be enough to put them in the race for the league title, made it 2-1 in the additional time of the first half through Augustine Okrah’s rebound ending the first half by 2-1 in favor of them.
Asante Kotoko returned in the second half to still continue their search for goals which will seal their victory knowing 2-1 is not enough to keep an attacking minded side like Bechem United at bay. Asante Kotoko finally got the third that would seal the victory for them and appease their fans and executive chairman Dr.Kwame Kyei.
The visitors tried sharing with Asante Kotoko but couldn’t find the back of the net till the final whistle.
Asante Kotoko are now seated 2nd with 21 points on the league table hoping Medeama, Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelse will loose their game to keep them there for the next 7 days or they drop after 24 hours of being there.
