Asante Kotoko and King Faisal shared the spoils in their outstanding Betpawa Premier League game played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Kotoko were seeking to build on their emphatic 4-0 victory over Real Tamale United in their previous game but King Faisal matched them boot for boot.
The game started at a slow pace as both teams tried to size up each other in the opening minutes. Kotoko eventually took control of the game, creating several chances in the first half but resolute defending by King Faisal prevented the Porcupine Warriors from grabbing the opener.
The second half was more of the same, with Kotoko dominating possession but unable to penetrate the King Faisal defence. In the 76th minute King Faisal midfielder Abdul Latif was sent off after receiving his second yellow card of the match. This however did not take steam from King Faisal defensively.
Despite being a man down, King Faisal managed to secure a crucial point in their battle to stay in the league.
The result extends King Faisal’s unbeaten run to three games. Meanwhile, Kotoko will be left to rue missed opportunities as they were unable to secure their second consecutive victory.
