Ex Chelsea and Black Stars star midfielder Michael Essien has revealed that Southampton forward Kamaldeen Sulemana will become a household name in football if he can stay injury-free.
Essien, who has worked closely with the young winger, believes Sulemana has the potential to win games on his own.
At just 19, Kamaldeen signed a five-year deal with French club Rennes after a successful stint with FC Nordsjaelland, becoming the fourth Ghanaian to represent the Ligue 1 side.
However, injuries hindered his progress, limiting him to just 34 appearances over two seasons, where he managed five goals and two assists.
Despite a challenging start to his Premier League career with Southampton, Essien remains optimistic.
“Kamaldeen was exceptional. He can win the game on his own. He’s strong, he’s got everything, and if he can stay fit, the world would see Kamaldeen,” Essien told JoySports in an interview.
The entire Ghanaian football community shares Essien’s hopes for Kamaldeen’s return to form, as he could be a vital asset for the Black Stars in their quest for success under coach Otto Addo
