Nottingham Forest in Advanced Talks with Kelechi Iheanacho for Premier League Return

English Premier League side Nottingham Forest is in advanced discussions with Nigerian international Kelechi Iheanacho as they aim to strengthen their attacking options for the upcoming 2023/24 season. Talks between the club and the Leicester City striker have progressed after initial meetings last week, and Nottingham Forest is now focused on finalizing the deal in the near future.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Iheanacho, who joined Leicester City from Manchester City in 2017 for a reported fee of €27 million, currently has one year remaining on his contract. Following Leicester’s relegation to the Championship last season, the 26-year-old has expressed his desire to be released from the club. During his time at Leicester, Iheanacho has made 206 appearances, scoring 55 goals and providing 33 assists.

Leicester City, in need of funds, will be looking to sell the Nigerian forward in order to recoup some of the money they invested in his transfer from Manchester City. If the deal with Nottingham Forest is successfully completed, Iheanacho could potentially fill the void left by fellow countryman Emmanuel Dennis, who has been deemed surplus to requirements and made available for transfer by the club.
