Augsburg defender Patric Pfeiffer has officially declared his love and commitment to Ghana, confirming his long-awaited switch of nationality from Germany.
The German-born player, whose nationality switch has been in the works since 2022, has finally secured his Ghanaian passport, paving the way for his Black Stars debut.
Patric expressed deep affection for his African roots, stating, “Yes, of course, because this is my motherland, I love Ghana, I love the people, I love the vibe, I love the food.”
The former Germany youth international has been eager to join the Black Stars but faced bureaucratic delays in obtaining his Ghanaian citizenship.
With the necessary paperwork now complete, Pfeiffer is optimistic about receiving a call-up for Ghana’s upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola in September. He has a pre-existing relationship with Black Stars coach Otto Addo, having played under him in the Hamburg youth team, which he believes will aid his integration into the squad.
“I hope in September I can get a call-up. I know the coach, Otto Addo because he was the coach of Hamburg in the youth team [where I played],” Patric Pfeiffer said.
The defender’s passion and determination to represent his country are evident, making him a potential asset to the Black Stars.
