Pitso And Gomes Named Africa’s Best

The IFFHS has released its annual awards winners and Mosimane as well Gomes won big in their respective categories.

Mosimane was named Best Club Coach on the continent after his fine performances with Al Ahly saw him lift back-to-back CAF Champions League titles.

Gomes, meanwhile, was named the Best Referee on the continent. The South African duo were honoured alongside Mohamed Salah, who was named CAF Player of the Year and Edouard Mendy, who won the African Goalkeeper of the Year gong.

Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi won the National Team Coach of the Year award and Riyad Mahrez was named Playermaker of the Year.

Former Ajax Cape Town striker Lassina Traore was named Best Young Player on the continent after shining for Shakthar in Ukraine.
