Ghanaian goalkeeper Razak Abalora took to Twitter to celebrate a resounding team performance and his own clean sheet after FC Petrocub thumped FC Zaria Balti 5-0 in their opening Moldovan Super Liga championship round match.
“Good team performance + 3 Clean sheet,” Razak Abalora wrote, expressing his delight at the emphatic victory.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper, who joined Petrocub on loan from Moldovan giants FC Sheriff in the January transfer window, played the entire 90 minutes in his first championship game for the club.
A dominant Petrocub display saw Maxim Potarniche, Vladimir Ambros (who bagged a brace), Ion Jardan, and Dan Puscas find the net. Abalora, however, was not called into significant action, keeping a clean sheet on his debut.
He wasn’t the only Ghanaian celebrating with the club. Fellow Ghanaians David Abagna and Seidu Basit also featured in the match for FC Petrocub.
The convincing win puts Petrocub atop the championship group table with a maximum of 3 points after matchday 1. The group winner will qualify for the prestigious UEFA Champions League next season.
Petrocub face a stern test next as they take on their loan goalkeeper’s parent club, FC Sheriff, in their upcoming championship match on March 16.
