Real Madrid secure semi final of Copa Del Rey in emphatic comeback over Atleti

Real Madrid have progressed to the semi finals of the Copa Del Rey after a 3-1 comeback against Atletico Madrid with Rodrigo, Benzema and Vinicius all finding the back of the net.

It was Atleti who took the lead after a wonderful ball from Koke ended up with Morata who off a cutback cross, slotted it past Courtois beautifully.

The game went into the break with Madrid behind to Atletico in the Bernabeu with Carlo Ancelloti’s men looking to bounce back.

It was after 79 minutes of resilience from Atleti that saw Rodrigo restore parity for Los Blancos after taking on four Atleti players and slotting it beautifully beyond Oblak.

Antoine Griezmann had the opportunity to send the visitors into the last four yet failed to do so as fluffed his lines.

Savic found himself sent off after 99 minutes in extra time with Atleti down to ten men in the latter parts of the game.

The game went on to be decided in extra time with Karim Benzema converting at the far post off an Asensio cross that came off Vinicius Junior.

Vinicius went on to seal the win for Real after he drove in from the left wing to place it way beyond Oblak as Atleti finished the game with ten men.

Real progress to the last four with Barcelona, Atlétic Club and Osasuna as the draw comes off on Monday, 30th January.
