FC Basel have confirmed that midfielder Renato Veiga is in talks with another club, amid strong links to a potential move to Chelsea. The 20-year-old, who has made 26 appearances for Basel, is reportedly close to sealing a deal worth around £12 million with the Premier League giants. Veiga’s versatility allows him to operate as a centre-back, left-back, or defensive midfielder, making him an attractive prospect for Chelsea.
Veiga, a Lisbon-born talent who came through the ranks at Sporting CP, joined Basel in 2023 following a loan spell with German side FC Augsburg. An international at the Portugal U21 level, Veiga is the son of former Cape Verde star Nelson Veiga.

Currently, Basel are on a pre-season training camp in Austria and have confirmed that Veiga left the camp to hold talks with another club. This potential transfer marks another busy summer for Chelsea, who have already signed five players, including recent additions Marc Guiu from Barcelona, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Omari Kellyman.
