Report: Venue for Black Stars vrs Sudan has been confirmed

The Black Stars of Ghana are set to host Sudan at the Cape Coast Stadium, according to several local media reports.

This decision comes after the Baba Yara Stadium was deemed unfit to host category C matches due to its poor playing surface, leading to the suspension of its license.

Over the weekend, officials from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) visited Ghana to inspect both the Accra and Cape Coast Stadiums.

The inspection was organized by the Ministry of Sports to ensure that Ghana could still host upcoming matches locally and avoid any embarrassment.

Following the inspection, reports suggest that the third matchday of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers between Ghana and Sudan will now take place at Cape Coast Stadium.

Ghana will face Sudan at home on Friday, October 11, before travelling to Libya for the return leg at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday, October 14.

The Black Stars, in pursuit of their fifth continental title, have had a shaky start to their campaign. They lost 1-0 to Angola at Baba Yara Stadium and were held to a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane, leaving them in third place in Group F with just one point from two games.

Despite the challenges, Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif and National Sports Authority (NSA) Board Chairman Seth Panwum assured during a recent Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports meeting that the match against Sudan will indeed take place in Ghana.
