See the only local player who made it into Otto Addo’s Black Stars squad for Nigeria clash

After an unprecedented delay, Otto Addo’s first squad as head coach of the Black Stars has been released.

The 27-man squad is dominated by players from some of Europe’s top clubs; including Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, Fatawu Issahaku from Sporting Lisbon, and Felix Afena-Gyan from AS Roma.

However, the local league is barely represented in the list.

In fact, only one player from the Ghana Premier League made Otto Addo’s list for the double-header against Nigeria later this month.

Hearts of Oak defender, Dennis Korsah was the only player from the local leagues included in the squad.

Korsah was the highest-scoring defender in the Premier League last season at Ebusua Dwarfs, with five goals, and was directly involved in nine goals overall.

Since his move to Accra Hearts of Oak, the left-back has made six league appearances, helping his side to three cleansheets in that period.

Hearts have also conceded just four goals in the matches he has played for the club.

Despite their eight-point lead at the top of the GPL table, no Asante Kotoko player was called up to the national team squad.

The Black Stars face Nigeria in the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday before travelling to Abuja for the away tie next Tuesday.
