Former Hearts of Oak forward Maxwell Boakye has rated the Mozambique league ahead of the Ghana premier league in terms of monetary issues.
According to the Clube Ferroviario de Maputo attacker, he is earning some good salaries in Mozambique as compared to what he was receiving in the Ghana premier league seasons ago.
“Ghana is a football country but we don’t pay well. We are playing to earn something decent to look after our families but we end up being poor.”
“The Mozambique league is more lucrative than the Ghana premier league.
We earn decent salaries here than that of the Ghana”, he told Soccanews.com.
“Football in Mozambique is more of power and physics but they love our style of play. They even call us the Brazil of Africa because we play like them”, he added.
Speaking on how many local players are overlooked in Black Stars call-ups, Maxwell confirmed that he is likely to switch nationality to play for the Mozambique national team in the coming years.
“I’ve been approached to play for them and I’m considering that. Ghanaian national teams especially the Black Stars don’t respect local players.
We don’t give our local players the chance to play in the Black stars but when you get here, it is different. Almost all their national team players play in the local league.”
The enterprising forward bagged two goals with two assists and two MVPs in 5games so far for Clube Ferroviario de Maputo in Mozambique.
