Tottenham are confident they will finalise the signings of Juventus duo Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur before the end of the January transfer window.
Spurs have had a tough week as former targets Adama Traore and Luis Diaz chose other destinations while non-league Ollie Tanner couldn’t agree personal terms with the club.
However, talks with Serie A giants Juventus have accelerated in the past few days and 90min understands Spurs are confident of bringing both players to north London, with the pair telling Juve of their desire to go.
Kulusevski joined Juve following an excellent season with Parma when he scored ten goals alongside eight assists in 36 Serie A appearances. He played a variety of roles during the 2020/21 campaign, featuring out wide or as a support striker to then Bianconeri forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Sweden international has made just five league starts this season under new manager Massimiliano Allegri and would provide added competition in the wing positions for Spurs.
Tottenham have also wanted a new central midfielder, and Bentancur fits the bill. The club believes Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso will join Tanguy Ndombele in departing this month – Joe Rodon and Dele Alli may also leave – and Bentancur would then compete for a spot against the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp and Harry Winks.
While the Lilywhites often wait to make their moves late in the transfer window, manager Antonio Conte’s admission that they needed to “do something” earlier this month has been met with a grand total of zero signings so far.
However, the incoming signings of Kulusevski and Bentancur would add depth to a squad well set to make a push for Champions League qualification in the second half of the season.
