Tottenham have had a bid for Adama Traore rejected by Wolves, who are holding out for a fee of £22m for the winger.
Traore is a long-term Spurs target, with the north London side trying and failing to get a deal done in the summer. They have re-ignited their interest this month though, after contract talks between Wolves and the player stalled.
Now, with talks ongoing, Spurs have seen an offer turned down by Wolves. 90min understands Wolves want £22m – which includes add-ons – for the Spain international, and Tottenham’s latest proposal has not met that threshold.
Traore has made it clear to Wolves manager Bruno Lage and the club’s hierarchy that he wants to join Spurs, and Spurs boss Antonio Conte is keen for the deal to happen as he plans to transform Traore into a wing-back.
Sources from inside the club have confirmed to 90min that talks with Wolves are ongoing.
Traore has not enjoyed the most prolific season, scoring just once in 21 games. Saying that, he has long been regarded as one of the Premier League’s best ball-carriers and only Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin has completed more dribbles than him this campaign.
