Former Ghana winger Laryea Kingston has offered his thoughts on the future of beleaguered Black Stars Coach Milovan Rajevac.
Kingston- a player who made a name during his heyday in the Senior National team – has been reacting to Ghana’s fiasco of a showing at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
The Black Stars finished an embarrassing 4th position in their group, picking just a point from 3 games. The nadir of Ghana’s abject showing was a humiliating defeat to lowly Comoros on Tuesday; a result that has made Ghanaians furious with all that has played out in Cameroon.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Silver FM, Kingston offered his opinion on the fate of Serbian trainer Milovan Rajevac with growing calls for him to be sacked.
Kingston has opined that Ghana needs a top level Coach who can impact the team positively.
“We need an A-game Coach. A coach that will stay on his feet and bring something on board that will change everything for us,” he told Silver FM.
Aside admitting that Milovan Rajevac exhibited tactical flaws during the tournament, Kingston has refused to state emphatically that he should be sacked or maintained.
He said “at the moment, I can’t say he should maintained or he should be sacked. I think we have not seen his handwriting in this tournament. Personally I will leave the management of the FA to decide on that.
In a related development, Ghana’s Ministry of Youth and Sports has summoned the leadership of the Ghana Football Association for an emergency meeting on Friday January 21.
The meeting will be premised on diagnosing Ghana’s disastrous AFCON 2021 campaign and the way forward.
